now I kinda wish I would have just left the old warn out paint on their, at least until it becomes my "weekend cruiser" instead of my "supposed" daily driver....just something for you to think about.

zer0321: Yea I am thinking that...I was really pissed when someone bashed me on the side in a parking lot the other day....and the paint is all faded etc....I can only imagine how I would have felt if it was freshly painted or more so if I had spent tons of money...thank you...

Each shop is different... its hard to say. Go talk to several local shops, thats the only way to know what YOU can get.
Hell, Ill give you a $4,000 paint job... sure it will be done with spray cans

If you want to keep the car for a while, spring for the lifetime paint. I don't know how many miles the car has on it, but if you really like it and want to fix it if it breaks (and don't assume it won't, cause I spun a rod bearing in my "great running" RS in January), then go for it. If you don't expect to have the car but for a few years, maybe get a cheaper job done. But its your money, do what you want. I spent about a $1000 getting my IROC repainted with new decals and emblems in January, and it looks incredibly sweet, and it has a lifetime warranty. But it had a good paint job on it to begin with, so I didn't have it stripped, either. The shop you go to will also dictate how much you will pay. But expect to get what you pay for, for the most part.
well i have mixed feelings about my car, i mean i love it, but i dont think its gonna be as fast as i want. It is my daily driver so im not sure. Im a near broke college student. I mean I think having my rs all restored would be something that I would be proud of but having a 350 tpi car would be even more proud for me. I am debating on my tranny build right now. If i should do hi stall and transgo or just keep it all stock. Only mods i have are open element chip, and hooker catback. I have spent 2500 dollars total for this car, that is to make it have no problems but one. Now I need the tranny fixed no matter what but, i figure for like 5,000 dollars total being spent, including the car, i can have a restored car. Or i can just keep the rs stock and save up. thing is i just got the car 2 months ago. I was sick of bumming rides cause my 82 regals tranny gave up on m. So what are your recommendaions? My favorite car I have owned has been my v8 camaro.
I was in the same situation as you earlier this year. I had my 91 RS for a 1 1/2 years, but I really wanted an IROC with a 350. I had all these plans for modding the 305, but it just wasn't the same as having a 350. So me and my fiance spent six months not eating out very much, not spending much money on entertainment (i.e. movies, etc), and we saved $3500 and bought our 87 IROC. I am so very glad that I did, too. The car is just absolutely great. Immeasurably better than my RS.
But its your decision, do what makes you happy
