Every time I stick my cigarette lighter in the place to warm it up it throws sparks and then blows the fuse. Anybody know what I need to do to fix this.

 

I would suggest you try and clean up the existing element with dremel tool (wire brush) , if that fails replace element new or junk, if that fails replace the entire unit.

 

I had this same thing happen. It's easier to just go ahead and buy all new stuff. I got the element, socket, etc. from GM for around $15.

 

i have the same problem with my lighter...but everytime i plug my radar dector or cell phone charger it kills the fuse...but when i plug in my cig lighter sometimes it blows and some times it dont

i just unplugged it...do you think i should just replace the whole setup??
