First camaro

2 weeks ago I purchased a 1992 Z28. Has the 5.7L TPI, runs and drives strong. I was able to pick it up for $750. Best I can tell it's all original other than some aftermarket fog lights replacing the originals. I've been surprised at its overall condition to this point. It needs a little work in the steering to tighten up some response issues. needs a fresh paint job and redo the interior due to some cigarette burns. Dash is cracked to hell from our Arizona sun and will need replaced. I'll need to replace the AC compressor and track down a vacuum issue with the climate control (only pushing from the defrost). other than those items it looks like fixing little things (power mirror switch not working) and a couple others. After that it's on to the upgrades.

Re: First camaro

My car is from Arizona as well. My dash is cracked all the hell cause it was sitting in the desert for almost 8 years before I got it. and the head liner is brittle. Paint is cracked and chipped too. But all my body work and paint will be done this spring. I'm going to be rebuilding a 350 for it. But I am still debating on if i want to have a carb or keep it TBI

Re: First camaro

I got lucky on the headliner mine is in perfect shape, carpets are all good bu 2 owners ago was a smoker so the seats have some small burn holes. I'll end up getting them reupholstered at some point down the line. I'm going to get the paint done on it first. I have a friend who is a painter so it's only going to cost me materials and I need to address it before small surface rust turns into something more. My old man has a 5th gen, I might toss his stock rims on mine and see how they look. When you do your 350, I guess it's buyers choice. I don't know enough about these cars yet to really have an opinion. I'd assume carburetor would be easier to work on. Good luck on your build whatever you decide to go with.

Re: First camaro

That would look awesome with 5th gen wheels. And yeah it is with the 350. 305 just doesn't have enough power for me. But tbi is more reliable than a carb. With a little tlc everything will be mint.
