Damn centre console!
It has took me longer this afternoon to replace the centre console than it did to fit the clutch and fit the trans (on my own)!
Does anyone else have serious grief with the console?
This time I left the bottom bit attached to the floor and just removed the top bit. BUT, if the handbrake lever is not a looooong way up (i.e rear brakes took out of adjustment), I have great difficulty in getting the damn thing out!
Any suggestions from anyone for the next time? How does anyone else remove this thing?
Andy.

Ive taken out my 85 console like a million times.. its really really easy, its like 6 bolts pull the ebrake and manuever. I dunno if its the same with the camro console but the 85-92 bird console is easy.

I took out the front seats and put the tilt steering all the way up. And then removed the upper part of the console etc, and being manual obviously removed the gear shift ****. Also remove the one screw on the left side of the E-brake to remove the handle. On installation there are two bolts holding the E-brake down.. loosen them and that will give you extra room IF needed. (they are hard to do up again with the console back in the car).
