Bad Tire Size

I've had my 1988 Iroc for a lil over a month or so now. And i remember saying wow those tires are really wide. the guy said they were 255, which they are, and that there supposed to have that size tireon them. But i notice when i turn , like to park, they rub on my wheelwell. My gfx are a lil loose from it, but not bad at all, and my plastic wheelwell is cracked up on the part it rubs on. whats hould i do? wait till i get new tires. im stumped, is this bad?

245/50-16's are the factory size. And yes......rubbing is bad. What you want to do about it is up to you.......I'd get new tires if mine were rubbing.

I have the 245-50R16's on my FORMULA and they slightly rub when I crank the wheel all the way in either direction and go in Reverse... But the 255's would be about 2/5 inch wider and about 2/5 inch taller so you would rub a little more than me...

As for the inner fender you can get them from any camaro or Firebird, I think there all the same, at least they are for my 83 Camaro and my 87 Firebird...New is too expensive, All you need is a 7mm ratchet with extension OR a 7mm nutdriver usually works fine (Unless there rusted on) Getyourself a wire cutter tool to pull out the plastic pop rivets, you just put the jaws on either side and pull the top out, then pull the base out.
NOTE: Cars without wheels are easier to remove the inner fender than ones with wheels.

If there gunky you can ueually clean them up and if they have road paint on them paint them black...

I know its more than you wanted but I hope that helps...

I have the 245/50R16's on mine and I love them. I just know not to turn the wheel all the way when I am backing up. I heard 255/55R16's are a better tire.
