Wiring up inflatable lumbar support on 4th gen seats

I just got a set of '95 T/A seats that have the little airbags in the side bolsters. I was wondering if anyone has hooked them up in their 3rd gen?? If so, how? TIA

Hey man,did you get the air tube that goes from seat to seat?If not you can prolly run a piece of vaccum hose.I think mine were only a hot wire and a ground.Pull the carpet up,you may have a plug already there.I did.

If you didn't get the hose and wires combination that run between the seat, you have a lot of work to do. It would be worth the time it takes to run to a junkyard and get one. Once you have that, you'll only need a + wire from a large amp circuit under the dash (power windows worked for me as they already had a breaker installed). Under the center console is a place to run a groud wire to complete the circuit.

GL!

I hooked up a hot wire and a ground before I installed them and got the little pump to work. I dont have the hose that goes from seat to seat. All I have on each seat is a plug and a small air tube with some kind of white clip at the end. What do I do with this? Thx.

There is a combination air hose and electrical wiring connector that goes between the seats. You NEED this. Contact the person you got the seats from or a junk yard.

The switches on the seats only redirect the energy to the pump motors and seat motors. It all works of a single + wire. The air tubes that run between the seats have to positively seal or your lumbar and bolsters wont work. I tried to make my own, but the harness makes it 100% fool proof.

Any year GTA will also have these seats and the same wiring harness and vacuum lines.

GM P/N for seat harness

From my post at LS1.com:

I had to order the harness that connects between the seats to provide power and air for the passenger side, GM P/N 12177553, from GMPartsDirect.com:

SUB TOTAL: $53.53
SHIPPING: $10.71
TAX: $0.00
TOTAL WITH TAXES: $64.24

These are for the 98-up AQ9 seats.....I can't confirm whether it will work with '93-'97 seats.

I made my own hose/wiring harness... it was easy and worked great. Save yourself $50.

I have the inflatable bolster supports in my seats as well. I also grafted a 6 way power thirdgen track onto the power lubar seat, if you are looking to do that as well. I did not get the hoses and harness with mine either, I made my own. The seats really only need the hot power feed, all the rest is pretty easy. As far as the vac tube, this sounds nuts, but I used $0.99 for 6 feet at walmart aquarium pump tubing. Perfect fit, easy to work with, and has worked for years with no problem. Let me know if you have any other Q's.

I got mine from the guy I bought the seats from for free. I just had to ask. I've also heard that a couple local boneyards quoted 8-10$ for that part.

No, I'm afraid I don't know Jeff...

Fast? Which LS1? Actually, I feel like the Z28 is fast enough for now....I won't do any engine mods until I have to overhaul the thing....then I'd probably do the LS6 intake, heads, cam and headers route and see if I could get 400 RWHP out of it on the dyno...with that stuff, it should be pretty easy.

If I do any mods in the near future, it would be with the suspension....I feel that this '99 is the exact opposite of what my '83 was....great power and average handling.

That '83 handled FAR better than the stock calibration GM put in the LS1 cars. I think they set the cars up to understeer intentionally to make them more forgiving of too much throttle....

I wish I could combine the best things of my current '99 with that '83.....like transplant the drivetrain, brakes, interior of the '99 into the brand new chassis of the '83 and have my AQ9 seats re-upholstered to match the rest of the Lear/Siegler Conteur interior in burnt orange/charcoal grey....now that would ROCK!

Re: GM P/N for seat harness

just in case anyone looks at this again for reference - they are now 165.00 from the dealer and 115 from a jobber. they thell me that have been discontinued and as of this date the only place the dealers get them from is a warehouse in tenn - so be prepared to wait a while for it - about one week.
the current part number is 12177553
