help with Locking load floor cover

Okay so I just got this load floor cover that I one on Ebay in the mail today(covers the well area in the hatch). It also came with the rear panel that it latches on to.

My question is how would you recommend screwing or bolting the cover in? I'd rather not rip up the carpet. How long of a screw can I drill in without hitting(*** forbid) the gas tank?

I think these came on 82-86 F bodies originally. Anybody with one have a clue?

Locking rear compartment

contact this guy. He might be able to help you. If not he can probably put you in touch with a guy that also bought the same set-up from him. There are pics. of it installed on his site. It looks good and I too am planning ondoing the same install.
