help with some console trim removal

I'm planning on painting the trim piece behind the steering wheel and infront of the instrument console plastic window. It holds the fog-light button, cig lighter, and headlight switch.

Ok now we are on the same page : I have removed all ***** ad wiring behind it, but there seem to be long clips that hold it on either side of the steering column. I'm scared to pull hard and break it. Do I have to remove the two forward bolts on the knee-bolster pad to get access and remove this piece?

I can help you with some of it:

To get the piece that's below the colum take out the top two screws and loosen the bottom two. They are all Torx. The top should come down and slide out. Remove cig lighter and the rest of that panel just snaps out. However I have not figured out the headlight switch-- I just did all of this last night. You can try a search, but I found nothing helpful.

Hope this helps.

thanks...the piece you are talking about with the torx screws: are you referring to the knee bolster?? squishy soft pad where your knees hit?

And about the headlight switch: pull the **** toward you. It should pop right off. There is a little triangular clamp there that hold the **** on and it should slide off too.

thanks
