It depends...

The latch assembly on a stock hood should bolt up to any after market hood that you buy, thus reducing the need for the pins. The other hood pin post was because the person purchased a Ram Air II hood, ported the air inlets a bit and noticed the hood seemed to move a bit.

Personally I like hood pins. Think they are a great muscle car look.

Right now my 91 has a fiberglass cowl with the hinges on the back and two locking hood pins on the front. I really like the way the locking hood pins look (cleaner than the other style). But I'm getting ready to convert it to a lift off hood with hood pins only. You see with a fiberglass hood you shouldnt run hood shocks. The shocks put pressure on the fiberglass in both the open and closed positions and over time the fiberglass will warp, bend, and eventually crask around the shock mounting points. So I dont want to run hood shocks, and I hate to hold the hood open all the time (tired of dealing with 'The Stick' as well) so I've decided to go all out pin on/lift off. It will look better at shows too. The major drawback is the lift off hoods are a PITA when you need to maintain your engine.

i had to get hood pins because my hood used to shake really bad. i really didn't want to put them on because i thought it would make the car look bad. when i finished installing them, i thought the car looked alot better. i think it added some charactor to my car.

Recommend the hood pins for a stock T/A hood? I like them also, just wondered if it was a hassle or not.

You can put hood pins on any hood...it just depends on your personal taste. Personally, I like hood pins for the look.

Read the info here on how to install hood pins. If you are referring to the use of hood pins being a hassle, no.

CrazyHawaiian-I've got a glasstek liftoff 4" cowl, a pin in every corner, much nicer than harwood and some of the others. I got a bit of a problem with the statement about it being a PITA to maintain the engine. To the contrary, it's soooooooo much easier to pull the hood off to do work, i carry a blanket in the backseat that i lay on the roof, set the hood on that and i can do anything in the engine bay ALOT easier. adding trans fluid use to be a nightmare because the hood interfered with the funnel and such, not anymore, the lift-off is a beautiful thing.

And for everybody else, i've got the torsion pin kit with the pin keeper wires (not sure what you wanna call them) and i have the wires routed back into the headlight bucket, i think it looks pretty bad ***, i'll be sure to get some pics up...
