rubber wing

I was wondering if there is a difference between the black rubber wings on Trans Ams and the fiberglass or whatever they are made out of wings? Is it just a weight/durbaility issue, and if so, what's the issue? I have a rubber wing on my car.

It's a weight as well as an appearance issue. Do a search on this topic...it comes up a lot.
