Replacing antenna/Fender question

My power antenna is non-functional. I have a regular antenna assembly to install. Is going to be necessary to pull the entire fender off to do this? How should I go about this?

Thanks,
J

You should get by if you remove the plastic liner thats in the wheel well above the tire.

This is another reason why I love my fender vents.

I have an original GM power antenna that I plan to install on my 84Z-28. It is now manual what will I need to do to change it to power? Is the original wiring in the car set up to take the new one?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I was able to remove the power antenna and install the regular assembly no problem by just jacking the car and removing the tire and fender skirt. Although when I put the radio back in place it sounded like the relay triggered for the power antenna for about 30 seconds but I haven't heard anything since.

Oh yeah, I just cut the wires to the power antenna and wire nutted them.
