hatch pulldown motor, neato !!!!

wow i just ran across the first hatch pulldown motor ever, never seen one before, its pretty funky, remonds me of the 80;s cadillacs trunk pulldowns but not as much travel as them

the 88 bird i got recently has one, kinda freaked me out to hear a motor running in there when i let the hatch down

interesting !

ahhhhhhh the memories. when i bought my car the precious owner conviently told me (after i slammed the hatch) that i didnt have to slam it because the pull down motor would break. it all worked out though she bought a new one for it..........

Just make sure that your fingers don't get caught between the hatch and jam or you will be in for alot of PAIN.

Ditto. Also like it when I hit the trunk release and the hatch opens all the way on it's own (unless it's just really cold outside).

I don't have a power hatch (anymore, previous owner removed it cuz it got stuck running) but my hatch will shoot up if I push the button, it's got great hatch shocks Push the button and PFSHHHHOOMP, shoots right up. I'm thinking that may be dangerous if someone bumps the button on the highway or something though...eek....

I just got the one on my 88 GTA to work (new motor), but the white plastic slides on each side are brittle, and partially broke. I can't seem to find replacements. can anyone point me in the right direction??

I guess I should have posted this earlier. But until today no one had posted of problems with their pull-down unit.

Yes I have all the spare parts available to repair your 1986-91 hatch pull-down units. Those nylon guides you need happen to be on sale through the end of the year.
