I have noticed one more problem

I have to started to notice that my lights have been diming when my car is sitting the volt meter is close to 8 when Im on the gas it goes alway up, will this hurt if i put a amp in? Is it the Alternator? or wires? Plz try to help me out

make sure your battery is in good shape get it tested at a local parts store,

i would try to hook up a voltmeter to the battery and check the voltage from that to make sure that your guage works fine.

then if that works fine then check the wires going to the battery and alternator if they fine you might need a new alternator.

Might want to check all your connections for corosion as well, and to make sure nothing is loose.

Sounds like your alt. might be going south. Like the other two said, check your connections first and get the battery tested. You might want to consider getting your alternator tested as well. I would not hook up an amp just yet. Your charging system is not in top shape to handle it. You dont want to ruin anything else. T

Geez...I can't believe nobody thought of this yet....check and make sure that your alternator belt is tight. I lost my battery because the belt was tight, but not tight enough. The lights would dim when at idle, and brighten when I stepped on the gas.

Without digging out a book, most shop manuals say something like 1/2"-3/4" of deflection in a serpentine belt, IIRC. Don't quote me.
