I know this sounds crazy, but.....

Hear me out anyways!

I was wondering if you guys think it would be possible to convert a non t-top car to a t-top car? I'm not saying it would be easy in the least, but possible, yes? All I know is I'd love to have t-tops and my car doesn't have them (and I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the car - almost perfect condition '92 heritage Z28 with NEW 350, tranny, suspension for $4200?? Come on....had to!)

I know, I know, it would mean doing irreversable things to the car (quite drastic, even!), but an interesting idea, no?

Even if I was to do this, it would be a long way off, but I plan on having the car forever, so I would do it...

I figure a little cutting of the roof, headliner, etc, and forming the necessary groves or whatever to accept the t-tops, then do all the necessary weatherstripping, headlining, paint, etc.

Anyways, your thoughts please......

yes it is possible but it is very difficult and costly I would suggest not doing it as the only quote I have seen on someone doing the conversion was seven grand to do the job from start to finish and for that much money you are better off to sell your car and buy one with t-tops

this topic comes up evey month or so.
bottom line what everyone says is
1. it's not worth it $$$ wise
2. there is alot more to it than just hacking away at the roof and putting in new weather striping
3. people will still say, get another T-top car if that is what you want....
4. you can still get a sunroof put on (I know cheesy)

From what I could see on the website, Mark's Custom Kits does a badass job for around $1300.00. Minus the cost of the T-tops themselves. I would do it on your car if I were you. But only if the work can be done right.

It doesn't sound crazy, but thats cause its asked all the time.

Personally, I would just buy a t-top car.

I actually don't think that Stage 3 option from that website is too bad...I mean it includes a full custom paint job that I assume is top-notch - good paint jobs cost a lot anyways, why not get it and ttops at the same time for 7g? Sounds good to me....

I know its all very expensive like over 1,000 for the dash and maybe 1,000 for the gullwing streering wheel.
