Power attenna broken??

My power attenna has never worked since ive bought the car and i think it is time to change it in my 87 iroc. I was wondering how to come about this?? does the fender have to come off?? is it easy to accomplish this? is it hard to change the attena itself ??

jack up the car in the front passengers side, use a jack stand..

than take the rim off, and then take out the inner plastic fender well, as much as you can.. then look inside and just a couple of bolts...

did the motor burn out?
does it up up or down?
it is getting power?

Check the relay first. Under the passenger side front panel in the interior. It should have a green, a grey, and a black wire if I'm correct.

Mine was burnt. I replaced it with one from the bone yard and it worked fine.

Like Jim Berry mentioned, check the relay first. You may save yourself some time and trouble. As I recall (someone jump in if this is incorrect), when you turn the radio on, you should hear a click from the relay (put an ear to the pass side dash panel near the IROC-Z badge). If not, then, I believe, you've found the problem. The 'Car Audio' board might provide more answers.

Another thought: If your car has ever had an after market radio, the relay may have simple been unhooked.
