C4 Vette seats

Hey all I am in the process of restoring my 89 IROC Rag top and was going over the interior in my head. Will C4 vette seats work in our cars. They seem cheaper than the 4th gen f-body seats.

Thanks
Brian

cheaper...........what exact year are you talking about. personally i would go with some newer c5's if i was going to go through the trouble of fabricating brackets and rails.

4thgens fit with no modification and they are cheap....that's why you see so many.

i think there was a guy here who had c4's....do a search.

I know Nosaint http://www.nosaint.ca/ put them in. I want to put in some 89-91 seats with full power, but they are very expensive in good condition. Shouldn't be too hard to mount them to the 3rd gen tracks.

Did you think they might be cheaper, maybe, just maybe , because you kinda only get TWO seats ? I mean thats kinda half a set, would you buy a diff valve cover cause you can get one cheaper than a different pair thats a few dollars more ? sheesh.....

Z28***** Seesh I have known for many years that vetts have only 2 seats. I do however think $700 to $800 for a set of 4th gen leather is a little much. Thanks for eluding to me being cheap. I purchased a set of seats a year ago from a 1996 SS Z for $250 front and back & in perfect shape.

Wow, that's pretty harsh. Especially from a moderator who is supposed to set a good example of board conduct. Did you ever consider that he may be looking for cores because he's going to recover them (as well as the stock rears) anyway? Maybe he has removed the back seat and installed a rollbar or speaker box? Maybe he just didn't think of the rears, but there's no reason to be so condesending about it.

Brian- I say go for it just because everybody else already has 4th gen seats- you might as well be different. IMO, Vette seats are some of the best looking factory seats.

The only reason he stated in his post was that they seem to be cheaper, if you shop around you can get a good deal on the 4th gen leather, im sure u might be able to on the C4 seats, either way gm usually used crap leather anyway and most will need recovering, i'd look into something else..

Check out my page with Both of my Camaros on them and tell me if you think the RS is done in cheap fashion. www.geocities.com/feltsb ...... by the way most Corvettes have DUAL power seats. I like their lumbar supports. I don't sit in the back much and Black seems to match black no matter what it comes from. So the vette seats would match my rear seats.

Z28***** the question was will they fit? Will they bolt up?

I did a little searching on CZ28 and from the few posts that i just saw it looks like the C4 ones will bolt up with little or no fabrication, the C5 however will require you be part of ghetto riggers inc.

He may be a moderator, but he is a person, too. He is entitled to his opinion just like the rest of us. Our main job is to make sure ppl dont post trash, flame others, etc.

Back on topic, has anyone considered that Corvette seats dont recline to the front or back? Might make it hard for someone to get in or for you to vacuum the rear. My friend has a beautiful 92 C4 with black leather interior, and he said that the angle of the seat is just not the best. I know that when I sat in it, I felt as if I was too far forward. I kinda like to recline a bit while driving.

If anyone knows of C4 or C5 seats that do recline, let me know. I would love to have a set for my car. I can live with having the rear seats recovered to match.

Brian,

Why not buy some completely different seats and everything covered to match.

powermite: Where did you get those seats? I love them!!!! Any other ideas what may fit and look good.

88aziroc: Thanks for the input about the reclining of the vette seats, I never thought of that problem.

Its true that the seats do not recline,
have I EVER needed them to? No

Mine do have a lever for moving the backs forward to allow others to get into the back seat

They are awesome and a cheaper alternative....

I'm not sure if this has been covered yet, but to the gentlemen wanting C4 seats.....I believe if you unbolt the seat rails from teh C4 seats, you can attach third gen seat rails to them, and then bolting them into the car is a snap! I am not 100% sure of this, but it seems like someione on here did it like 5 or so years ago, or I heard it somewhere.....anyways.......even if it didn't work it is a possibilty that you could drill out the thirdgen brackets to fit the C4 seats.....

just my 2 cents
