Yeah it moves the entire length, it will slide al lthe way from 1st to Park. When you install the shifter plate, there is a hold in the plastic indicator thing that the shifter rod goes through. Then the shifter moves, it moves the indicator because it goes through the hole in the plastic indicator. From what I can see you have no control at all, the hole it there, the shifetr goes through the hole, done. But it's 1 gesr off on reading correctly

Yeah, mine has an orange tab attached to the plastic panel that goes around the shifter rod to indicate what gear...

Everything should line up correctly without having to adjust anything. As for adjusting it I havent heard of anything that can be done to the guts of the shifter plate. You might check the part that goes around the shaft of the shifter for any excess plastic. That might be what is causing it. OR maybe the whole console is off alignment with the shifter itself. I know mine is just by a little bit.

It's not that's what's frustrating! I simply removed my old one and put in place my new one, I didn't change anything. I'll give it another try tomorrow with more patience and see what I can do...

The peice of plexiglass with the PRNDd21 moves forwards and backwards. You don't have to un-install it, just use your finger to push/pull it into position.

My Bad I thought you were talking about the actual indicator that goes around the shifter rod, not the plate that indicates the gears.

Thanks!

actually, if you remove the console you will notice that the entire shifter assembly is bolted down using 4 bolts that go thru SLOTTED holes in the shifter allowing you to move the shifter forward or backward almost an inch either way for adjustment. all of the shifter cables and stuff are attached to the shifter assembly also so you dont have to worry about the shifter getting misadjusted because everything moves as a whole. hope this helps.

Ok I got it adjusted now, thanks everyone!

1 more thing, how the hell do you change the little bulb for the shift indicator? Mine worked before the switch but won't work now The bulb is like stuck in the little plastic thing and I can't pull the bulb out by hand...

Yeah that's kinda what I figured but it seems stuck. I don't really want to just grab at it with a pair of needle nose but I don't know. I'll try it again and see...
