i hope you are alright...

that is the main thing here man.. cars can be replaced, people cant..i know thats kinda cliche, but its true...

youll be able to get another car...true enough it wont be the one you put your heart and soul into..but youll find another one that youll like the same or more..

good luck and i hope you are ok

Dude, is your dash folded up in the middle? Did he side swipe your car or hit it broadside? What did he hit it with?

let me guess his insurance company says the car is totaled and wants to pay you the money and take the car rather than fix it(assuming he had insurance)
I admit I dont know any thng about body work, but you could possably keep the car and have it fixed your self

If what I said is how things are going for you I know exactly how you feel. that's what happened to me when some dumb *** hit my 85 Firebird(was my first car too)

The pics don't say much. How badly is the frame bent, and how much other damage is there from the frame bending. Dunno how much that'll cost to fix, and it may not be worth the salvage title. I.E. is the drivetrain still salvagable? Could you part it out?

Sadly I say go sue his *** so you can buy a new 3rd gen to work on! If anyone did that to my GTA, which I have NOT even had a chance to drive yet, I'd have to beat the crap out of them.

Car: NONE! and it SUCKS!
an 89? It looks repairable... if it was hit with a new car, like a honda **** rocket, the drivetrain should be alright. newer cars are designed to absorb the impact rather then transfer the energy.

and about insurance, You can demand that your insurance company repair the vehicle, although some smaller companys like progressive, mercury, etc., will not pay. I demanded repair of my 88 Olds Regency when it was hit by a dumbass in a parking lot.

hope your alright, too.

actually didn'[t even touch the uni body. but it did get the door, fender windshield, quite a biut of interior damage (evan all th eway over to the center counsole) but what really kills it is the quarter. take a closer look at that. and then it also starterd to rip at the top of the window on the B pillar.

Sorry to say it but it looks like a parts car to me. Find a V6 car with a 5speed then swap everything over. If you have an auto now you could keep it that way or change it over to a 5speed with minamal hassles.

Beyond repair. Look at the roof, if that isn't a clue about how the frame looks then I don't know what is. Also the dash being pushed up etc is a sign that everything is fubar. How does the door close on the passenger side? Then look at the rear quarter panel, it's junk as well. Keep the rear glass and hood, wheels etc. Take everything you can off of it and ebay or classifieds. Get some steel wheels so the car can roll but take everything you can off of it. You'd be suprised what you can get just from parting it. Take off the throttle body too.

Just like JPrevost said, that car is not gonna see more days on the street like new again, the roof and a piller are bent up, that is how the windshield it cracked, the a/4 panel is ****ed, that is alot of work, there is ALOT of work to be done there. Yeah, i think it could be fixed, but it is not worth it and it would have to be done b/c a REALLY REALLY good body shop with a really good frame guy, b/c that is where most of the work is done.

I just read the few top responses of "it's fixable"

please ! LOL

look how the frame twisted , it would cost thousands and thousands of dollars to twist it back into shape and get it to osmewhat original condition , my guesstimate would be ~10grand just to straighten it out (no paint etc...)

sorry about your "loss" , but don't even think about fixing the car (and sorry if this was already stated , I was in a rush and didn't want to read the whole thread).

Find a cheap car with a blown engine or 6 in it. Swap as much as possible over and repaint it.

That car isnt being fixed. I use to work at a body shop and know what is involved with damage like that. There is so much hidden damage in there. Just the roof alone will turn any body shop away. then look at the dashpad. It its bent like that then think about what the rest of the dash looks like. Now is your chance to save up a fewe more bucks and get a nice Z28

I've claimed it since before it was his so its only right. But hell it'll still burn some rubber! Oh and if any one see's a blue 3 1/2 inch steel cowl induction hood for sale let one of us know cuz some bastard stol the one off the maro. When i find out who done it ima kick some major ***!

sorry about your loss, i know how heartbreaking it must be to see something that youve put so much into just get blown away.

you know dumbasses like him are the reason that there are less and less thirdgens on the road today. they dont make 'em anymore, so sadly they just keep getting fewer. today at the junkyard i saw an 88 iroc, pearl white, mint interior, with a 2001 honda civic rammed up its tailpipe. i about shed a tear as i told her it wasnt her fault.

why cant these damn r*cer kids learn how to drive.

That about makes me sick looking at it! If somebody did that to my GTA, I don't know what I'd do. I know it's just a car, but I've already put a lot of work into it. It's a nice car. If they didn't have insurance, I'd probably ram my foot up their azz! I'd certainly take them to court if they didn't pay and I'd make their lives miserable until I had another GTA just like mine. Sorry about your loss.

I let this thread live long enough for you to get some answers. As it is now totaled, I feel there is no more tech-related information here.

I am going to lock this thread before it becomes another classified section.

Once again, sorry. I hope you take what you learned and apply it to another thirdgen.
