new gm vs aftermarket fenders

why is it that aftermarket fenders cost so much less than GM fenders when they are both new? why would one buy a gm one for hundreds more? thanks

This discussion comes up a lot, although cost isn't usually the main point, most people ask if they should use an aftermarket one. The answer is that the aftermarket fender replacements are basically sheet metal, they're thin and they don't always fit well. The general concensus opinion is you're better off getting one from a salvage yard.
