T-Tops squeecking. Im gonna throw em off at 90

T-Tops squeecking. Im gonna throw em off at 90
My T-tops are soooooooo. loud. They are constanly squecking, and its drivin me insane. I have the newer light plexiglass ones. 91 firebird. What can I do to quiet them? Help. I feel like unlatchin them at 90 on the highway.

Go to the hardware store and get a spray can of silicone lubricant. Lube up the rubber weatherstripping really good. Say bye bye squeaks!
Depending on how dry your rubber is, you may have to apply quite a bit. Take your time it'll be worth it!

i heard vasoline works well too... gonna try it out tommorow. Supposed to help keep the water from getting in too.

Transmission: to many to list
Axle/Gears: 9bolt 4:10 in the T/A
also, dielectric grease workes real good.

Definitely on 91 birds/camaros there are adjusting plates that allow you to fine tune how tight your tops fit to the body.
These plates are found behind the A-pillar covers and the Sail panel covers where the Tops secure to the body.
(1) Remove the 1 screw on each cover and shift it aside to reveal the adjustment plate.
(2) There are 2 bolts that secure this plate to the brackets, these are 7mm, you loosen these and you can adjust the location of the hole that the pins from the tops secure into...lower for a more secure fit, but may require a bit more strength to secure the latch.
--Always tighten the bolts back down after each adjustment, failure to do so will result in frustration..........the force of those pins may move the adjustment plate when you didnt want it to--
(3) If the panels secure too easily, lower the plates even further, if the panels shift left or right when latched down, adjust the plates left or right also. You can align the tops based on how well they seat against the window when it is all the way up.
--------I replaced my acrylic 91 RS tops with a pair of 86 glass tops, for the weight and attractiveness....much less scratches and you get to do away with that gnarly plastic frame on the acrylic panels--------
My choice:
1. adjust first
2. SC's
3. weatherstripping
4. save the lube for something more entertaining

but really, use the "lube" as a last resort or it will get all over your windows and the paint as well. and you dont want to put the t-tops back into the back with them greasy or they will have smears on them after every time of being in the bag, trust be i know
