At Last!!!Aluminium Interior Pics
SWEEEEEEEEEET job bud :hail: :hail: I fell in love with those guage rings, Please tell me you can make some for us good ole boys, I would pay you a fair deal with them. Or atleast make a tech article on how you did them
POWERMITE, ARE YOU GOING TO SELL THOSE TRIM RINGS OR NOT?!?!?! I think like 100 people have asked for them so far, and not a peep out of you!
By the way, OMG YOUR CAR OWNS!!!
I especially like that the opening in the rims is the same size as the brake rotors!
Also, someone asked what happened to his pillar gauge. Look closely in the first picture... It's under the dash pad!

Guys,
Sorry but I just havent the time to make loads of trim rings.Im sure you can find any local engineering shops who could do this for you.As far as the design is concerned,I just looked at a picture of some aftermarket tachos and made them a similar shape.
Cayse,I have never had pillar gauges,I think that pic was of someone elses car who happened to have the same steering wheel as me.My extra guage is a transmission temp.
cheers

BTW this is my baby underneath the Dunlop Bridge at the LeMans 24 Hour circuit.

Awesome car. If you EVER think about making a few more sets just post here and I'm sure you'd get your fair share for them. Why do you have the older style guages though?

My trade is aerospace, I build airplanes for a living and I have to say this is the best application of aluminum alloy craftmanship I've seen in a car's interior... :hail: Excellent work! I hope you do try and make some kits to sell, guaranteed you'll make some money selling those...

Can you make a tech article for third gen to describe the proceedure of making the aluminum rings and aluminum around the reciever? Also, how did you inscribe Pontiac in the aluminum? Or did you buy it that way?

Thanks a lot, powermite. Although I don't plan on tackling any major project such as this for a long while, it'd still be great guide to refer to for future ideas.
And by the way, you can add one more guy to the list of people who love your car! Great skill and work man. I :hail: to you.
How's your car doing after a little over five months, anyway? Still shimmering like new I assume.
EDIT: Also, when I said buy I meant like the buying the aluminum sheets or whatever. Sorry, I am a complete doof when it comes to stuff like this.

Hey those of you that want something like this done could get measurements and stuff and maybe send them to this guy. Although he charges 25 bucks an hour but maybe it would take him long to do.

Hey I was wondering if you would be willing to duplicate a set of everything u made. I have fallen in love with the way ur car looks with all the aluminum accents. It truely is a one of a kind and can understand if u want to keep it that way. But damn does it looks sweet. ....just gotta say it again....it looks so sweet.

NO don't go with those horrible gauges!!! look at mine. They are self-powered,backlighted and are real gauge replacements. Not to mention that I bought the euro style font,if you couldn't tell. No matter what you need some white OR silver face gauges/shift indicator. It would complete your interior!!!

Beautiful car powermite! An eye catcher and show-stopper in every way. I, like others, would love to see what you've done under the hood too. Very tasteful and professionally done. You know, I was just watching the Barrett-Jackson auto auctions that were held last week in Arizona on Speed channel and frankly I don't think third gens are ready for that kind of show, but what you've done with your T/A I could see on the B-J block when thirdgens are becoming the hot item - very nice job. It's like a modern version of the old resto-hotrod!! Very cool!
If I might make a constructive suggestion and maybe you''ve already thought of it - a set of custom made billet pedals would really set the interior off IMO. If you made them, which it sounds like you could very easily, you could style them so that they are totally unique and it would just add more of your style and taste to the interior. What comes to mind are the Roush pedals made for Mustangs - nothing like that is made for thirdgens and if you were to CNC "Firebird" or "T/A" or something like that onto the pedals, they would truly be a one-of-a-kind.
My paint isn't exactly like yours but it is a non-tradtitonal red color that is making my wheel hunt quite difficult - until I saw your wheels on your car. Fikse makes a set similar to yours - FM5's I believe - I think I'm going to just start saving money and wait until I get what I really want. Just wanted to say that I like your philosophy on building up a car and you've sort of got me "back on track" in my frame of mind regarding my buildup - it should be unique, tasteful and with a true sense of uniqueness.
Two thumbs up - emphatically!!!

Well my under hood is looking a bit sad at the moment as you can see.Im waiting for my ZZ4/Holley Stealth Ram setup to come from Sallee Chev to go with my T56.While im waiting i thought i would bare metal the engine bay and tidy it up a bit.I'll post some more pics when its done.
I may well make some pedals as i will now have three!!

Did the wheel manufacturer get the centers tinted or painted gold or did you have that done after purchasing the wheels? Maybe you said already - the thread is getting pretty long; sorry if it's been asked already.
I e-mailed Fikse - "wheel" see what they say about tinting and price estimates (no pun intended ;-)

I must be honest,Ive seen the Fikse FM5's in the flesh and they are superb.Very very expensive though.I bought mine from
www.imagewheels.co.uk here in the UK.You can chose more or less any colour you wish plus they are the only company i know who will do any backspacing, inset off set whatever you need.
May be a bit expensive for you to import at the moment with the exchange rate in our favour.Great for me buying the engine though

I read this post a while back... and just read it again too... because the car looks amazing!
I normally really don't like anything bigger than 16" rims on 3rd gens... but those really don't look that big! They seem to fit the car perfectly!
I was wondering though, why didn't you replace the gauge cluster with a higher speedo one?

When i get the car back on the road in a few weeks time,it will be fitted with a speed camera detector which has a speedo readout on it.This is calculated by GPS so should be very accurate.
