Removing Paint....

Hey guyz, I got a question for all of ya! The paint on my hood, roof, and hatch deck is chipping bad and I wanna remove it all. What grit sand paper should I use? I just want to go down to primer so I can still drive without worrying about more rust showing up. Help me out guys!!

Well, i used 40 grit down to the last two layers of paint on my car and then 80 to the metal. But my car is in a shop and i am painting it, Primer is NOT waterproof. I think you you have to either use a sealer(not sure if that is or not) or Epoxy Primer, I know that Epoxy is a waterproof and a great anti-rust coating.
