Removing interior trim pieces.....

When removing the rear plastic panel in the very back of the car, that covers the rear latch and hatch motor, the black connector that is plugged in. Is there a special trick to getting it off. I undid the tabs on both sides of it, but it still doesn't want to slide off and I don't want to break it? Any ideas?..........
