When did the dashes change in birds?

Hey, I'd like to get another dash for my 82. I was wondering what years came with that dash.

IIRC they stayed mechanical until '85. '86 and beyond all had electronic speedos. So you should be able to do a direct swap from the years 82 through 85.

I think it was 82-84 had the same style dash and console. 85 I think they went to the 2 tone colored dash, black/grey as well as the new center console.

hmm my friends 87 firebird (basemodel) had newer style console, and olderstyle dash, but there were only two gauges big speedo, big gas gauge. the other two just have like blackout plates where the other gauges would be

What were you needing a dash pad? I think the Firebird dash pad is interchangeable on all years. They look a bit different (contours) The early ones have a edge that has a different design. Has a ridge in the edge... the later style has a smooth rounded edge.

Or were you meaning the actual dash guage cluster panel? The gauge trim panel style changed around 86, I think, to the gray textured panel. Then the 91-92 cars had different lower dash trim.

My base model 87 (2.8) had the gauges with a speedo and gas gauge and the rest were idiot lights (small circles to the right of the 2 main gauges)

On the speedo style, mechanical versus electric...My 87 has a speedo gear, so it is mechanical...again 2.8 L with a 700r4
