Why do you want to switch to fiberglass fenders? The metal fenders don't weigh that much to begin with, the f-glass ones will probably fit like junk and will probably look like junk too unless you/painter wants to take the time to primer/block sand to get them smooth.

If you go with the fiberglass, there's some concern with aftermarket fits, but if you live in NY like your profile says, you will definately not have to worry about rust.

If you're doing it for weight savings tho, don't bother, there isn't much difference.

The thing i like about 'glass fenders (and why i may go with them sometime) is that way up here in the frigid, icy north, cars go rusty in no time, but the glass fenders wont rust.

So what your saying is that when the quarter panels fall apart and rust through your fenders will be looking good?

Steel fenders will outlast the rocker panels and 1/4 panels anyway, so after a few more winters, the fenders will be the LEAST of your concern.
