I am getting my car painted real soon and want a lighter hood that the stock blisters will fit on.


sounds like a simple question but I can't find a good one. anywere


it could be fiberglass or CF I'm going to paint it so I don't care

I got a pic of what I want

If I can't find it soon I will half to use the stock one


I know everone has seen this but I wanted to try one last time

 

that carbon fiber hood is on a car that is in Japan, most likely custom made. Never personally seen a fiberglass hood that uses louvers, that would prob have to be custom made as well unless someone else can fill you in about a hood that i don't know of

 

my hood is fiberglass....it was on the car when i got it so i have no details about it....

 

ah actually the 82-84 (i think) Z's came with a stock fiberglass hood, but it didn't accept the louvers. It was a hood that was kinda similar to the one had louvers on it but not entirely the same. Black90rs you got a pic of your car?

 

na i dont have any pics right now but my hood is fiberglas with the louvers in it..

 

Here's a pic of a stock glass Z hood.
you might be able to put the blisters on top of the indents--not sure tho.

yea thats the hood that was available from the 82-84 models. The louvers will not fit on that hood, you can tell how towards the bottom of those indentations that its too narrow in comparison to the actual louvers/blisters. those hoods used black decals to fill that cavity

why hasn't anyone made a stock replacement hood

 

because knowone would pay 500 + bucks for a lighter "stock" appearing hood, there gonna want there moneyw orth and get an SS hood or a big block stinger hood.

Good luck finding the carbon fiber hood!! If you do find one, I'm in!!!

However, paint doesn't stick to Carbon Fiber as well as it sticks to fiberglass.

I used to make fun of dumb mustang guys who put big 4in cals on a EFI cars and i don't want to be one of them. they have there place on fast car not slow ones like mine.

I like the stock appearance of my IROC too. I've been looking around for a stock looking fiberglass hood with no luck at all.

If you find, one let me know.

When you say without the "blisters do you mean I can bolt mine on. because that's what I'm looking for.

I have a picture of the stock hood, Its a copy of this hood that I want.

If so and this is what you can make. I will be the first in line to buy one.

We can build the flat Camaro hood you're looking for, without the "blisters". As a bolt on design it is $395.00 plus $25.00 boxing. Truck freight is additional and is paid by you upon arrival directly to Yellow Freight.
