Bought a theft recovery, 87 Trans Am--am slowly starting to get it up and running (better) So today I tried to swap out a column (since mine is all smashed to hell)

today from an 84 Trans Am--to an 87. Got it out--got mine out but having a heck of a time getting it back in.

The two shafts don't want to mate together--wehn I can a bolt goes through to keep together.

Eventaully we took the shaft off the steering box--pulled the column out and tried to put'em together--still no fit!

Finally, my buddy took both pieces back to his house where here ground off enough metal to make them fit. Tomorrow is round 2!

Anyone ever do this? any tips?
