Rear view mirror shoe location...
So the mirror falls off the window today while driving for the Nth time... I'm sure I've never actually put it back in the right spot ever... Does anyone know the proper dimension down from the top of the windshield? Thanks!

The mirror support should be located on the centerline (measure the width of the windshield and divide by two) and the base of the support should be 689mm (27 1/8") from the bottom of the windshield.

every time my rear view mirror fell off it always left a little line around the "shoe" as you call it so locating where it went back was cake.

Yeah, if it left the glue there then just mark the corners with a grease pencil (your girlfriend or wife's eyeliner would work too I suppose) before you scrape the old epoxy off.

Yeah, I understand the residue, and I used to outline it on the outside of the windshield with a Sharpie marker, but I don't think it was in the correct spot to begin with. The T-bar accessories (garage door opener pouch, flashlight, dome light) were blocking most of the view. I'm assuming the mirror has been mounted too high since I've had the car.
BTW, does anyone else still have thier factory Firebird flashlight? I think it's a great idea to have a ready-to-go flashlight at all times! Too bad my other Pontiacs don't have this...
