What years for molded firebird doors?
Hey, 3 quick questions:
1.) What year firebirds came with the molded door panels from the factory?
By molded I mean the ones that aren't as flat as a board and that are made out of that thin tag board material.
2.)Also, do they require a special inside handle and trim bezzel other than the ones that are found on flat door panel f-bodies?
3.)Does anyone have a pic of one of these?
See the attached pic for an example of what I refered to as a flat door panel, which also has what I refered to as a trim bezzel marked with green.
Thanks a bunch for any info!

Those are sweat will the work in a camaro?
They bolt right into a camaro if you get the entire door panel (door handle cutout and armrest included)
the only problem you will run into is the armrest bracket will need to be changed, with a different one...and they are rivited on, so you have to drill them out and bolt the new one on.

Actually they were optional on all Firebirds Base, Formula, T/A to GTA... They came with the "Deluxe" Interior, and also with the "Ultima seats" commonly called GTA seats were another level up.
I KNOW for sure that they were availble in 87-89, in 1990 they changed them to all the same design used thru 92. 86 they were NOT availble. And they are far and few between. I have only seen 2 sets in junkyards.
To install them you need the Armrest bracket, and the Door handle for the screw that holds the plastic trim piece...
hope that helps.

I installed these on my 86 T/A--instead of replacing the metal bracket for the armrests, all I did was drill another hole and use a longer screw from another set of door handles. Easy as hell!!

i found that i did need the arm bracket off the donor car. its a PITA drilling out the rivits for everything but other than that its not bad.

Yes, I had to drill holes, if you look, you will see that I damaged the fabric by mistake. You have to be carefull when you do that.

They do not show in for 1986 in the Parts & Illustration manual. It is entirely possible that it was a late 86 that got some 87 options... dispite common belifes, things do happen that way, late 86's getting 87 setups, and early 87's getting left over 86 parts for example.

i wanted them door panels ever since i seen them on my buddys gta when i first got my car his interior looked so much better. He had the all black cloth interior with the over head console and all. I always liked t/a's console better also, he sold that car and i wanted to buy it. black/black 87 305 5-speed ugh that thing hauled for a 305. 1 more thing do they have the spot for the manual side mirror on the driver side door panel cause i think his car had electric mirrors.
