I have an 82 T/A with no gfx because like it was stated it wasn't an option in 82 =)
Oh and Rudigger...I still need to call...sorry I haven't yet.

ALL 82 T/A's do indeed have GFX. They're just very small and only in certain locations. The base 82 Firebirds and S/E's did not have GFX.
They look more like fender flares than GFX though. They should have a piece in front of the front tires that attaches to the fender and the air dam under the rad. The other piece is a small flare in front of the rear wheel wells.
Most 82 T/A's I've seen (which is few) are missing some of them as they get pulverized by stones, etc. or get removed when the car gets repainted.

I suppose if we're splitting hairs then yes my 82 does indeed have gfx. They look like this
But I think we know he meant gfx like those on later T/A'. I still have all four although one was damaged when I loaded my car on a dolly once. It ripped the screw holes but a body shop fixed it.

Will an earlier stle be easier to install than the '91-'92 version?

I'm not 100% sure but I think you'll need the 91-92 nose and bumper to do a full gfx conversion. You can't bolt them on to the 82 nose or bumper...I think the doors might work, but you'd still need to drill holes for them I believe.

and I believe that goes for all other gfx...say you want 87 gfx you'll need an 87 nose and rear bumper. However I believe that 83-84 gfx can bolt on to the stock 82 nose. Some one else might want to verify. I'm happy with my 82 with not gfx =) It looks sleeker...on a Camaro on the other hand I like them better with gfx, but something about the early birds with no gfx appeals to me. Don't ge me wrong though I love how the GTA's look with their ground effects but I would never convert my 82 to look like a later GTA.
One more thing. If you go for the 91-92 nose and gfx you'll also need the headlight pockets. Because in 91-92 the headlights didn't have the little lip on them. So if you keep your old headlights and put in a 91-92 nose it won't be able to close. You can also grind the lip off if you don't switch out the headlights.

Whoa...600 beans! Thats a lot of cash for some plastic add-ons. I guess I'll have to wait for the day when thirdgen resto parts become more plentiful, and parts like that will probably go for less than half of that price.
