trans am fender on a firebird

I need new fenders, and some one told me that trans am fenders won't work on a Firebird because of the ground effects. I kind athought I had ground effects painted the same color as the car, but maybe I'm dreaming (again). BTW my car is red and the fenders i'm looking at are white. The seller says it's off a '91 Firebird, but says it will fit a Formular, Trans Am, and GTA. WOuldn't it be off one of those cars if it supposedly won't go on a Firebird?

Except for the gfx holes, all the 91-92 bird fenders are the same. (no fender scoops). If you have the gfx, you may have to make a few holes cause the newer gfx pieces mount in different lower places than the old ones. If no gfx, you have a few holes to get filled.

Ok, the 91 fenders need to go onto a '90

I don't think the holes are a problem unless they are fairly large. some epoxy or body filler should take care of those, or maybe I can put GFX around the rest of the car

Are there some side by side clear shots of what fenders with and without GFX look like? I'm having a real trouble with this for some reason.

Ok, ,check it out, this pic I found of the fender (85-90 ta )set up for the gfx.

You can see the holes along the ridge near the bottom.

The 91 cars don't have the front holes, and the rear holes are below that "ridge".

I couldn't find a pic of a non-gfx fender, but imagine the same fender, but with no holes.
You should be able to fill them with epoxy, I never thought of that.
Off to the garage to fill my fenders with epoxy

WOW... ok, the fenders i'm looking at are not for a trans am then. There are no openings except for the sidemarker lights. I was thinking screw holes. As far as I can tell, my car has GFX, but when it was painted, the dude painted it all the same color. But I thought normal Firebirds didn't have GFX.... ah geez, here I go again..... I have a bad pic of the front and one of the fenders for my "repairing strut mount history"

All 85-92 firebird, GTA, and 91-92 T/A's shared the same fenders. They did not come pre-drilled for the GFX when ordered as a new OEM replacement from the dealer (i.e. a collision replacement). The T/A's, excluding what I mentioned above, have fender vents in them which is the only thing that seperates them from standard fenders. Weather or not T/A fenders come pre-drilled for gfx, I don't know.

Sorry, I didn't mean the holes for those fender scoops, I guess I kinda mislead you. None of the 91-92 cars came with those crazy scoops. The holes I meant are the little screw holes.

If the fender you want is from a 91-92 trans am or firebird with the effects, then you should have 2 screw size holes behind the tires near the bottom.

Ok... I'm getting straightened out.

First, the fenders i'm after appear to be mislabeled, they do not have the big square opening for the vents. They look like they do have the gfx, but I can take those off (right?).

For what I have now, I see plenty of places to attach stuff, but i'm not sure whats what. I have a black critter catcher and some screw holes towards the bottom of the fender, but they also hold in the fender guard. Now that I think of it, I don't have the gfx...... Butheres a goofy Photoshop job I did last night when I was bored

As far as fit goes, any 3rd gen bird fender will fit any other 3rd gen bird. You say that your prospective fender doesn't have a scoop, then chances are it IS from 91. The only reason I posted the older fender is because I wanted to show you an example of where the bolt holes for the gfx are.
