Adapting shift plate for starshifter.

My dad bought me a B&M "starshifter" i think thats what it was called. Its a cheap one, only like 120 or so but it works fine, What i did was take out the piece that goes over the shifter, and i cut the little bar that runs in the middle, then i slid the chrome shift plate down the shifter, and i want to glue it on somehow, but i noticed the hole is just a little to big. Can i just buy a boot that will fit this shifter or does anyone have pics of adapting the shift plate to this shifter? Thanks
