I need to see if I can fix the mounts on the ground f/x that I purchased from a 91 z28. Specifically I am refering to the rocker panel sections that run under the doors. I am pretty sure they are molded rubber, not fiberglass.

I was going to use a good 2 part epoxy and reinforce it well. I have to partially reconstruct 1 small part, and had planned on using fiberglass to do that.

Does this sound feasable?

I have since done a little more research and I found a product at the hardware store for rubber repair called "pliobond". It hardens well, but remains somewhat flexible. Says that automotive is one of the primary uses too. Maybe this is what I should use instead of epoxy?

 

I wouldn't mess with it personally. I just can't imagine that it would hold up well. I would just get another piece. That's just me.

The Pliobond sounds like the better bet to me. I am pretty sure the epoxy won't last.

 

Well, the thing is that I just bought these a while ago. They are pretty expensive parts and its just a few mounts that need repaired. I don't think its worth just giving up on it. I have plenty of experience with fiberglass repair and doing stuff like this, just not with rubber parts. I am convinced it can be done right and will hold up to the test of time, I just wanted a little insight from somebody who might have done this before.
