k i no how to take out the normal shifter>>a clip at the back. but on my 83 i got this ugly shifter ball how do i get this one off it dont have a clip, do i just screw it off? also can i put a firebird t handle on it?

 

Pull the park button off, and look down inside. You'll see a snap ring on the shaft. If you don't have snap-ring pliers, get 2 dental pics (or some other similar thin pointy tools) and with a little patience you can get it out.
