that big blank area on the middle thru to the pass side of the dash?
some people make custom covers to go over there
some do video screens
alot of people hang gauges under the dash vents and that takes up some space....
umm, install a map bag like some camaros had..
ive seen people mount CD and minidisc changers there..
or you can make a glovebox there...

It's not a DVD, it's a playstation.
Seriously tho, are you looking for something simple, or do you want to custom fab something to take up the space? I found that a 7" widescreen did just enough to fill the space. I think Willie has an LED display for his engine mounted under the heater vents. You could always more the stereo and HVAC controls up under the vents and turn the current radio area into a little storage area like on some newer cars.

I agree with you. I don't like the Camaro interior at all. I know they are basically the same. But it's like they never moved beyond that 1982-1984 center console. It looks alot like the old firebird console. I also like the guage layout of the birds alot more. As far as taking up that space. You can do alot of things. Guages. Screens, aftermarket glove box. Custom fab something that looks better. Or you could even install a 4th gen dash.

Being a Firebird guy first, I was definately not fond of my Camaro dash when I first bought the car. After a while it grew on me, and now I prefer it to the firebird dash. I think the no-bull$hit appearance is very fitting to the clean exterior lines of the car. It makes me feel like I'm in a race car when I'm in it.

I think the Camaro interiors have always lacked style. I like that the center console in the 3rd gen Camaros holds up better. Although I hated that clock. That was just damned ugly.
I don't like the plain door panels or the seats that usually go into the Camaro. The Firebird has it beat there. The dash pad of the Firebird is definatley nicer. The instrument layout is nicer in the Firebird but not bad in the Camaro. Just weird to me. I also prefer the headlight controls for the Firebirds. As far as the rest of the dash goes, the map pocket in the Firebird is stupid. It is useless. Only reason to have it is for asthetics. And barely that.
I like Camaros because they are thirdgens. But I would never own one. Unless I got a sweet deal on it. Then I think I would only drag race it or something. I just prefer the styling of the Firebirds and Trans-AMs inside and out better. Dealing with the pop ups suck. But when they are working I like them better than the Camaro setup.
To each their own.

thanks for the help people i think i am gunna go with the DVD or cd changer. but i guess people like what they like. i could be wrong on this but wernt T/A considered more higher class then camaros? also cost more money. oh ya i 4 got about the seats, ya the T/A/Firebird seats are way better, i was just thinking that today when cleaning it out, also i am dieing without those pouchs on the side of the doors, no place to put my drink!
one more thing i found out today that i am not happy with is that i am stuck with is my stereo sticking out but on my firebird it was nice and flush.
as for the lights though, i think camaros front lights look better at night when on. as for tail light T/A takes it by a long shot.
but i will say one thing camaros look alot more meaner then TAs
but anyway she is starting to grow on me
soon as i get rid of that nasty ball shift i will be happy

To answer your questions in the order you asked them:
1. The T/A was the "luxury" version of the F-body, meaning more options were standard, various upgrades, etc.
2. Some camaros had cup holders that mounted to the bottom of the door. You can find them sometimes on ebay, but they're a hot commodity, so be prepared to pay a lot for them.
3. There is an "L" shaped bracket that was used to support the back of the stereo. If you pull out your head unit, you should be able to see it. It can either be unbolted or just cut off. Odds are your T/A already had this bracket removed as most people that install an aftermarket stereo took it out. I have both a cd player and an EQ flush mounted in my camaro, so there's plenty of room if you remove the bracket.

Where is the ashtray light you're talking about. I know some camaros, mine included, have a little light under the middle heater vents (it's built into the plastic, you have to remove the dash to get to the bulb) that's supposed to shine down on the ash tray area.

I agree with Jim85Iroc.
You don't have to like any one particular style. Your opinion is just that, your opinion. The Camaro dash fits the Camaro very well. That's why I'm not a fan of the 4th gen console dash mod. Sure it looks AWESOME, and some of the guys who've done it are amazing, but to me it's out of place in a Thiredgen.
I think the Camaro dash is right on the money.

Shoulda bought a 'Bird.
The interior is plain and simple in Camaros, all business. No distractions. The Firebirds have those big *** gauges running from door to door, that floppy map bag, and the strange control placement. Just doesn't do it for me.

Yeah they are basically the same car. It's all in the details. Personally I wouldn't own a Camaro. Or at least I would have to get one hell of a deal on a 5.7L T-Top 350 or something. That's part of why there are two different branded F-bodies. To appeal to similar yet slightly different crowds.
Firebird is a styled machine. Camaro is all business. It lacks the subtle grace and smooth sleek lines the Firebird has. But that Camaro has an ugly nose designed with a better air intake system. Cheaper and easier to maintain interior and exterior items like the headlights. More basic seats and door panels. Stuff like that.

Granted the 90-92 Camaro Interiors are nicer than the pre 90 Interiors, I still dont like the overall design. I prefer the look of the 4th gen dash, especially the 4th gen firebird dash. Just feels newer ...
I like the interior in the camaro far better than the firebird. I just think they slap too many things of different colors all over the place on the birds, just mismatched and out of place. Sort of like a mister potatoe head puzzle piece.

There's gotta be at least.... three...? Going by memory, nothing stands out one bit.
