How to replace vert bow weatherstrip?
I have a '90 convertible Camaro. I want to replace the weatherstrip on the underside of the convertible bow where it meets the tonneau.
I already have the replacement weatherstrip, but I am a mechanical newbie.
How do I remove the debris/glue from the old weatherstrip? The old weatherstrip is glued into a somewhat narrow channel. The channel looks like it needs to be cleaned out both mechanically to remove large chunks of the old weatherstrip and chemically to remove the old adhesive. What tool is best for removing the chucks of old weatherstrip? Also, I have a tube of adhesive that recommends using 3M cleaner (parts 08984 or 08986). Is that really what I want?
I have 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive (Yellow) with part number 08001. Is this the correct adhesive to use?
Last question, once the new weatherstrip is being glued into place, how do I hold it there? It's about 7 feet long, curves and its attached to the underside of the bow.
Thanks!

I have never replaced either one of mine yet, but my '91 needs it really bad. The 3M "Yellow" that you go will work fine, but I perfer the "Black" because its not as noticeable if any becomes visible.
It should "push" into place. Install it dry to make sure its lined up and fits correctly. The half of it back and apply the glue, then re-install it. Once one half is done, peel back the other half and glue it. Prop the #5 bow up and allow it to dry for an hour or two before you latch the back of the top to the Tonnau cover.

Right now, the old WS is in such bad shape, its too much trouble to put the top down and back up. And I hate having to drive the car on beautiful summer days with the top on!!!
Thanks!
