I need to know what year doors (and what other considerations I need to take) will fit my 83 Z28. I've got rust, I've got thrashed electric window wiring, I want to replace them. I found a guy who'll sell me really clean manual-window doors that he says came off an 88. Will these fit on my car? will the manual window fit? If these won't match up, what will??

Any thirdgen door will physically bolt up with no problem. The only difference will be in the placement of any holes drilled for the FX, and the window mechanism is different in the 82 doors.
You'll be able to swap your window motors into the other doors you're considering.

I'm putting 1992 doors on my '83, and I've double-checked them- they're the same. I've got to go the opposite direction though... swapping the power doors back to manual.

 

Any Camaro door should fit I think.... prolly Firebird doors too, but their GFX holes are different.

 

Great to hear I can use the 88 doors on my ride. They're in such better condition than what I've got going now. The genuis I bought my Z from turned it into a real freakshow- nothing matches (or works right). He said that the guy HE bought it from had replaced the door interiors and had left the electric motors out, with the windows locked up. So I scrounged and found a pair of TA doors to strip the motors out of, and 'cause I just wanted the motors, I didn't mind that the TA doors were rusted. So after I got the first motor out of the donor-door, I took the interior off of my Z door.... and found an un-connected motor sitting there. So now I got... 2 sets of rusted doors, 2 sets of window motors, and about 1/2 a wiring harness between them all. THAT's why I'm going with manual windows. I figger since I struck myself out trying to swap window motors, I better simplify a bit... But thanks for the advice... anybody need some hurting doors??
