gfx swap
Hi all i am trying to swap out my 84 style gfx for the iroc style gfx. My question is do i have to get a 85-90 front bumper? cause i can't seem to get one at a good price. I have everything else all the gfx just missing the front bumper. is it possible to modify the 84 style? i mean whats the difference?

No, you dont need the entire front clip, you can just use your old nose and mount the iroc gfx onto that. I've never done it but i think you need to drill new holes for the 85-90 style. They look similar, but the 85-90 doesnt have the slotted holes in the front and aren't as flat as the older style, the bottoms are out more.
The 82-84 Z28 nose is a 1 piece style--the lower slotted piece is molded into the nose(bumper cover). The newer iroc style nose(bumper cover)is a 2 piece style, the lower gfx is bolted to the upper cover--so I don't think there's a way to modify your style nose.
I think you may need the rear bumper too but I am not sure on that one really. If you will need the rear bumper too, I have one that is in mint condition that I would sell you super cheap. If you are interested drop me an email or just reply here. mikecarter1234@yahoo.com

You will need to replace the Entire front bumper, Nose and spoiler. THe 82-84 style nose will not work with the 85 and up nose. You may have to trim the bumper impact absorber so the 85 and up bumper will fit properly.
You will need the rear bumper for the year of gfx either 85-90 or 91-92. The bumpers are interchangable, no modifications whatso ever for it to fit properly.
You will have to drill some holes into your body. IIRC the 82-84 rear quarter panel just behind the drivers door has those clip things for the rockerpanel gfx to attach too. You will have to drill one hole into that area for the gfx stud to go thru and into the interior. Same with the rear quarter panel gfx that lead up to the bumper. The hole locations may be off some so be prepared to do some drilling.
As for the door, I believe that the hole locations are the same for all gfx styles. But I may not be correct about that.
