Sealing the wheel wells? What to use?
I was out looking at the rear wheel wells a while back and noticed that some of the sealer that is put on from the factory is starting to crack in places and one place even had slight surface rust.
What I'm wanting to do is scrape off the loose sealer and recover the whole wheel well. I'm thinking that POR15 is the best stuff for the job as it's good with rust, but would I be better off using actual sealer like what is already painted on?
Hope I have described this properly.
Thanks
Robert

What I did was clean up the rust, throw some rust converter on, and then spray it from a can of undercoating. It seems to be holding up very well, and the ndercoating spray seems to melt or blend into the existing undercoating.

Hi Rob,
I just painted Hammerite black over the entire area twice, let it dry and then went over it all with Waxoyl. Looks really good and she's a rust dodger now. Otherwise I would use underseal.
Cheers,
Felix

We had some flat black rustoleum, the brush on kind in a can... I painted my wheel wells with it when I installed the pro-kit... looks good to me, has held up great... it's easy to get ahold of too, you could get it at any hardware store...
