Camaro interior pieces in Firebird

I have a '91 Firebird. I was originally grey inside, but I dyed the carpet. I switched out the back seats for a set from an all black camaro. I recovered my door panels, sail panels, and visors in simulated leather. Most of the plastic trim pieces are grey, but a friend of mine has some black ones in a camaro that he could give me. Will they fit? Will the console fit in my car also? One more thing, how do I pull out the plastic trim above the doors?...I already broke the one over the driverside door...do I pull, slide, push, snap or what? Thanks.

The consoles and dash stuff are not swappable as already stated. Also the door panels and seats are very different then the Firebirds. However the cargo area plastics and all the other colored plastics are all identical.

What usually doesn't get mentioned is the differences between years. Also how your car is optioned affects the interchangability of the plastics.

Very true. But as I said before there are some differences in some of the items that can make the swap a little more difficult.

i don't remember any differences in the seats, if there are any, i'm sure you could swap the rails and make'em work

The seats are different but interchangable. The difference is only the style of the seat.

The side panels need to be 89+ since that is when they went to shoulder stlye rear seatbelt, otherwise you will need to modify them.
Try that new Krylon Fusion spray paint. It is supposed to be very durable.

I have all the plastic trim panels from an 86 Camaro in my 86 Trans Am.
I also have all the plastic trim panels from an 89 Formula in my 88 Formula.
Both of my cars were gray and I wanted black. So now they are black.

that would be cool to see a camaro dash/console in a firebird, i am not a huge fan of the firebird dash/console.

I actually went the other way and put a firebird dash in my '91 Z. In my opinion, the camaro dash is very outdated (the only outdated thing on these cars) and the firebird dash and console look a little more modern. Actually, My whole interior is from a firebird. Black dash, console, seats and carpet and doorpanels. I think it looks pretty damn good.

Personally I think the Firebird interior is better all around. I like the larger guages. I prefer the way the vents are set up because the Camaro vents are poorly placed and look weird like they were an afterthought.

The center console on the Firebird looks alot better. However the Camaro console holds up alot better over time. When the Firebird consoles are new they just look alot more modern.

The door panels on the bird just have better styling in my opinion. Especially the molded GTA style. I wish someone would make those aftermarket. But no one does.

I can't stand the ball shifter on the Camaro either. I prefer the leather T-handle in the Firebird. This can of course be changed with a Megashifter or other aftermarket unit.

I don't know if Camaros got the overhead console like the Trans-AM and GTA's did. If they did I don't know if it's different or not but they do look good anyway.

Lastly the Camaro seats are ulgy. This trend continued to the fourth gens also. Firebirds got much more modern seating. Which has styling comparable to vehicles out now. The Camaro has a definate "80's" look to the seats. I have never sat in them at least not recently enough to remember them, so I don't know how they feel or if they are as comfortable but the fabric design is just horrid.

No in case you were wondering I would never consider purchasing a Camaro even though it has many similarities to the bird and performs the same if not a little better due to intake design. Unless I was cutting it up to make a drag car. Than either would do. I feel the same about the outside too. I like Camaros but given the choice I would rather have the Firebird.

Some of you guys have some sweet Camaros on here that would almost change my mind. Almost.

My $0.02 on interiors.
