grant steering wheel

Does anyone know if it is posible to use a grant wheel on a 91 camaro. They make the adaptors for camaros up to 89, but after that, they don't have any. They say they can't do it with the air bag. Now, how different is the steering column between a non air bag wheel, and one with the air bag?

the steering wheel adapter ring should be the same, and the only column diff is that the airbag one has 2 extra wires in it - 12v and ground to blow that airbag =P The reason they don't list it for your 1991 is because an airbag equipped vehicle is supposed to retain the OE wheel for safety/crash standards, and bc insurance sees it as an installed safety device - it better be there if u crash. If u get into a wreck and an airbag woulda saved u, the grant won't, and they can get sued if they tell you to replace your airbag with theirs. one of those at your own risk things.

anyway i have a grant F1 wheel, #1064, coming in the mail for an 89 firebird. i was going for the standard black grant GT 3-spoke, which was $65 at kragen. this wheel lists for $140 but i got it off ebay for $0.05 less than a GT wheel ... should be sweet

thanks for the help. I was thinking of getting the evolution gt model (1445) and the RF control kit. I know it might give it that ***** look, but I like the two-toned wheel (go well with my interior) and the idea of having controls on the steering wheel. What do you think? I just noticed you're in san diego. where at exactly? I live up by UTC next to UCSD.

dont worry about the ric3y look man, do what u like just keep it classy. my friend and i were looking at the RF kit to play with his neons and strobes from across the parking lot ... they're cool but make sure u dont need the $$$ for something else. My mom's jeep grand cherokee has the radio controls on the back of the steering wheel - my beef with that system is that whenever i drive my car i'm reaching for buttons that aren't there . it's really a nice touch, give it a shot. i'm out in esco.
