question about rear seat install
The factory seat was a 2-piece back rest, and the one I am installing is a 1-piece. In regards to the middle pegs for mounting the 2-piece seat, do I have to cut those off, or is there a less "permanent" way to remove them ie: do they somehow unscrew?
Thanks,
Eric

The pegs are one piece and is spotwelded to the driveshaft tunnel. You can take a hacksaw (sawzall, etc) to cut them off or, you can drill out the spot welds with a regular drillbit (easier to drill all the way through tunnel though) or use spotweld drillbit http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/itemd...9017&Dep_Key1= (should be avaliable at your local auto paint suppy store or elsewhere)

I figured as much. I think I managed to get it in without cutting the pegs, but if I do need to, I like the idea of removing the whole plate from the driveshaft tunnel so I can reinstall it at a later time if need be.
Thanks deadbird,

89.. There's a few reasons that 'could be' for your problem.
- The car was in a pretty bad wreck (landed in a ditch or something) or ran over something causing damage to that area of the d-shaft tunnel. You should know if it was or not. It's a far guess but, can happen.
- Someone was really pissed at that bar and beat the h-ll out of it for some reason or another bending it (which is not an easy thing to do.. I tried out of curiousity w/a 3lb hammer..)
Hte bar itself should be straight and level on the tunnel. If it has any curve to it, someone may have broke out the bfh on it.
- The frame to the seat is bad/bent or the hole for the peg is wallered out. I can't remember if there was a bushing in there or not but, I'll guess no (if there is, it could be missing on yours. Easy way to see if it's loose, flip the seat down and move it around to see if it has much play on peg side.
Those are just guesses though...

Just so you guys know...I put a solid back seat from a '95 camaro in mine, which had a split back, and I didn't remove the bar. It wasn't in the way, and the seat still fits fine. Not neccessary to do more work then you have to...

Are you still able to fold down the rear seat then? I was going to do the same for mine, but want to retain the fold down feature.
