Headliner glue?

Can anyone recommend a good headliner glue? I can't seem to find anything good. Whatever I find says not to use on a headliner!

I have the 3m stuff--but on the label it says not to use in high heat applications and not to use on headliners. Is there a different type of 3m spray adhesive that I'm missing or is that the stuff you guys used? If so how long has it held up for?

about everyone on these boards have used 3m 90, works fine. if you search, there is some really good explanations on how to recover the headliner, some people are really proud on how theirs came out.

3M recommends #8088 (hope that # is right, going on memory) spray adhesive for lightweight headliners, and it withstands heat. I got mine at Advance Auto Parts, but other part stores carry it as well. That is what I used for mine and it worked great.

I would not recommend using 3M's general purpose adhesive as over time it may not hold due to the heat.

the gm spray w/ the green cap (i think) works well even tho it says not for headliners. the stuff w/ the purple cap is complete garbage, i think its 77? the green one is 90 i think. maybe i got those 2 backwards..

3M - General Trim Adhesive. In a white can with a black cap. Wal-Mart $8.50 or so.

DO NOT USE #77 or #90!!! Your headliner WILL sag after a couple hot days.

I recommend anything that specifically is made for headliners. Personally, I would use 3M Fast Tack Trim Adhesive. If that's not available, use the 3M General Trim Adhesive; it just takes longer to set up.

I guarantee you'll be back here telling us that your headliner's sagging long before you hope it would.

I was able to grab the right stuff-I think it's by 3M--costs $12. Now hopefully I'll be able to do it before the cold damp weather comes back!

tony, it's mike here. you need to use 3m general trim adhesive #08088. i was doing the liner i bought from you. i allready flubbed it once. if your doing a t-top liner perhaps you should zip down and look at the one i'm doing. they are a pain in the nads. i will share with you the vast knowledge that only a super idiot like me can posess.

Guys, take it to PMs for stuff like that.

Where in NJ are you two? I can help out on the weekends if you need any. I've done one (hardtop) headliner already. The one in my car is about ready for some TLC, too.

i'm in north west jersey. a little town called tranquillity. if you look on the rand-mcnally road atlas you may see it. if not do a search on the town side bar for "super idiot" i think i'm listed at g-8 on the map! i actually live about 10 minutes from island dragway (my second home). tony can be found streaking across new jersey at high rate of speed along rt. 80 on his way to work each day!-hope this helps !!
