86 TA fenders or not?
86 TA fenders or not?
Ok, heres the deal I have my 86 TA. I needed to buy 2 new fenders I went aftermarket, and I also needed front bump cover junkyard for that. Plus the RA 2 hood
What I noticed after body man tried to line it all up.
The doesnt line up with the head lights the hood sits higher. When u look at the car from dead on front it looks like the hood is bowed upward, or rather it looks like the Hlights are dipping down on the outside.
What I think happened here is that they sent me the fenders for 82 to 84 ta. Sorry for not having pics, my camera took a dump. Will try to get pics soon.
Basically what are the differences between the first half 80s and second half 80s TA fenders?

I have a 84 fender on my 87 Trans Am. THe only difference is that I had to drill holes for the bottom of my ground effects. The side vent opening is the same size on all Regular Trans Am models. If your fender is not aligning check to see if your flat bumper cover support is not bent down. It it the sheet metal that is in front of your radiator I had a similar problem because my front end sagged just a little .

The problem is the poor quality aftermarket fender. Probably made in China or Taiwan by someone who has never seen a thirdgen.

Nope the fender was specified for an 84 since thats all the dealer had in stock. My 87 style vent insert snapped right in but I still had to drill new holes for my ground effects.

I would have chimed in earlier about the vents if I noticed the thread.
I've got the 82-84 T/A vents in my 86 since I have the 91-92 Camaro rockers on my car. The camaro part is shorter which allowed me to use the full length vent since the 85-90 style looked a bit odd.
