Lit Needles Later Years Install?

Hi I have an 85 IROC-Z custom show car I am nearing completion on, and I purchased S/R motorsports reverse indiglo guages, and love them so much! however, my needles dont light up, nor ever have.

my question is, can I install later yeears of camaro needles that WERE illuminated, in the place of these ones (that appear black against the background)

I have seen discussions on this but noone addressed replacing needles with later years that were lit. I will not get rid of the s/r guages as i can see the needle fine, but theyre black.

The black light thing is not an option for me as my guages white faces will improperly illuminate. The day glo paint i dont think will work much either so can someone help me out?

I had the same problem. I just took the overlays off. I could not stand not being able to see my needles. I have an 88 IROC and would like to know what to do also.

I tried the UV light with DayGlo paint on the tips, but the clear plastic washed out the blacklight.

I have seen the backs of the newer style clusters and do not think that you can combine the two without major modding.

I am replacing my 89' cluster with clear needles that light up. I can say it is not cheap so far. $50 for a used cluster for the clear needles and another $85 for the lighting kit. Plus the guage shaft diameter on my guages is smaller than the holes in the needles. The cluster I got is from a 97' F body. I am throwing around the idea of somhow using the electronics from the new guage pod as well as the needles. As I only have limeted electronc skills I fear the whole thing may be a lost cause...

i may have a way, should know this coming week sometime, as for your idea, you would have to recalibrate all your dials to custom values since print face and 97 mechanics will differ. also, it wouldnt be hard to drill a hole in the guage face larger, however reverse indiglo holes are probably not able to be enlarged, but ill research my idea this week and let you know
