Steering wheel replacement

What kind of work am I looking at if I want to change my 88 wheel with one from a late 90's model. (I am not worried about the airbag and there are no electronics on the current wheel)
Thanks

Take you about 30 minutes.
Just need a large socket and ratchet, steering wheel puller, and small torx bits for the 90+ with the airbag.

I just did this swap last weekend.
Really easy to do! I don't even think it took 30 minutes.

You'll need a steering wheel puller, they have them at shucks for under $10

The newer wheel looks so much better.

Here was the old wheel.

Here is the wheel out of a 92.

Chris.

they're the same.

also the internals and upper case part are the same as alot of other GM cars... basicly if the collar of the car looks like ours, for the most part the guts are the same.

Chris.
That looks just like my dash and wheel before I made some changes...

Yes the steering wheel is easy to install. Mine took some effort with the puller--after that it was simple. I got the grant wheel new on ebay for 40 bucks.

before you unbolt the tilt column from the other car, press down on the wheel and see if it rocks a little..

if it does, you might want to take it apart on the work bench and tighten it up.. its a lil easier then in the car i think... if it does move, its usually just the screws holding the tilt... they tend to loosen over time....

I guess on the Camaro.

I've been going nuts the past few months trying to score the older style Firebird steering wheel for my '90. Finally won it yesturday. Can't wait, I'll have a nicer looking wheel and I'll be able to see the gages.
