CrAsHeD....!/~\?~!

I am an idiot and crashed my baby a few days ago. Was going around a long right turn WAY too fast and realized about 1/3 of the way in i wasnt going to have enough stopping distance on the other side of the corner before i got to the intersection. Made the decision to lightly apply the brakes and the car stepped out on me (i knew it would). Fishtailed a couple of times before hitting the curb with my front left tire....the entire car hopped the curb...took out a tree...and then stopped about 10 feet after that. Lets just put it this way the basic fact is that im lucky to be alive and un injured.....the fact that my car is still in one piece is a miracle. The exterior damage is so little (blown tire/dented rim, and a big crack in the nose) although i havent gotten it up on jacks yet to check out for more hidden damage but i think its all okay check out this link click me it has pictures of the damage to my car, has pics of the under side of the car which looks fine....and has pics of the tree i took out.

Ouch, although the front nose is fairly in-expensive to fix and fairly easy to replace by yourself....(I did it with minimal tools)....

Be lucky it was a small tree and it fell over how it did, instead of hitting your windshield....

I'm lucky it was a small tree and not the hydro pole that was 20 feet to the right of it. Like i said im lucky to be alive. Dont see why you guys should care that i crashed my car but this only happened on saturday so im still in shock (it was really freaky although its bothering me now more then it did at the time it happened) and for some reason telling people about it makes it a little easier to deal with. Thanx for the support guys. In terms of repairs im going to go to a couple junk yards to see if i can find the nose and ill probably get all new rims (kind of wanted some nice wheels from www.billetwheel.com anyways so now seems like a good time to upgrade) so as long as i didnt do any serious damage to the steering/suspension components repair wise should be too bad. Actually i have a feeling the most expensive thing to replace is going to be the tree!

Poor tree!

You could always use "le bra" to cover up that crack

i think putting a bra over the damage would make me want to cry every time i got into my car. My friend who came over like minutes after the accident said it could probably be fixed with some bondo and painted again but theres no way thats happening shes gotta be fixed properly dont think i could have it any other way

The damage doesn't look too bad, you should have her back in no time. At least you only hit a small tree, I hit a buick and crushed my front end but all I did was break the buicks tail light cover . my crash pics Take a look at mine and you'll feel better about yours...

That sucks but in a way its good that the damage isnt major. By the way you explained it, it seems that you dont have any frame damage.

Your damn lucky Doug.. I doubt according to the pics
that anything under is out of shape ...

I totalled my 87 iroc-z in the highway.. a bit similar ..
these cars are tought.

A bumper cover-paint, tire, balance wheel, alingment and id check the spindle, and suspension conponents.. just to be sure..
tho it could have been wayy worst.

good luck getting her back in shape

yeah im the luckiest ******* that youll ever meet. I got the car up on jacks and took a look there is no obvious damage to the suspension nothing is bent or cracked or anything. Looks like all i need is to get the spindle checked and a good alignment. I was kind of worried about the suspension stuff because my rim hit hard enough to launch the rest of my car over the curb but all appears well. Destroying a rim means im going to use it as an excuse to buy a nice set of new rims....and past that i just have to get a nose from a junkyard and have it painted....already started tearing into the nose.....was going to make a super nice custom ram air box and thats going to be really easy to do with the nose off.....im so lucky i dont even deserve this.....not to mention my car was getting stored for the winter end of october anyways so i only lose a months worth of driving time.

thanx im less mad that i have to get my car fixed and more sorry that i crashed such a beautiful car. Hopefully ill learn my lesson but at the very least from now on im going to keep any fast driving restricted for safe dry roads, although im even going to be a lot more selective with that. Over this winter im going to do some cool stuff to her though so ill keep you guys updated with info and pics.

sorry for putting it on the wrong board actually it really doesnt belong on either but i was having a real tough time dealing with it (ive kind of been in shock since it happened which was sat at like 8) and for some reason this made it a little easier to deal with so thanks for letting it go.

The only cool thing is how many people can say they chopped down a tree with a camaro and only ended up with a little crack in the body as a scar.

ain't that the f'in truth. about a year or so ago, my brother was driving, and fell asleep at the wheel. he drove through someones yard, took out some ugly *** bushes, missed a 3 foot wide tree by a few inches, then shot across the street and tore up someone elses lawn. when he woke up, he thought he just hit a curb and kept driving. shortly after, there were cops there, so he went back and confessed that it was him. the douchebag owners went and got estimates from 2 landscapers (probably their buddies) for like $2700. we had a landscaper come in, and he quoted $1500, so that's what we ended up settling on. as far as the car goes, there were scratches (probably could've been buffed out) up the hood and roof, and some branches tangled on the driveshaft and chit. so hopefully for your sake, the owners aren't complete asses.

OK, I read through this whole thread without much of a passing thought... "Ah the car looks fine, he's fine, let's click the next thread." Until this LAST post you put up that says you need to replace the tree?! Talk about adding insult to injury! Sorry to hear about your situation (truly unique now).

I'd just go find a similar tree, dig it up, and replant it at night or something before they charge you. Then again, I'm not sure how readily available trees are where you are... I line in northern Jersey.

Yeah the problem is i bet i could get into a fair bit of trouble for replanting a city tree. It was a good size and the city is going to want to replace it with a tree of similar size. Like i said im the luckiest person in the history of forever because this isnt going to end up on my insurance i just have to pay to replace the tree....im guessing its going to cost anywhere from 500-1200 dollars(canadian) to replace the tree but the fact that i got away from this with under 1500 dollars worth of damage and no injuries....im a happy camper....its still weird even like 3 days later im still a bit in shock from the whole thing. oh well all will be okay and she will live to drive another day....still cant believe i hopped a curb in my maro and knocked down a good sized tree with only a blown rim and a crack in the nose :lala:

If it this makes you happy?

Lucky that you have a real piece of American metal! If you had a **** racer the tree would propably have torn your car in to two pieces
Here are some samples about car accidents my family has been involved:
About 20 years ago my father had an Oldsmobile Delta 88 '78 and once it got hit by Volvo. Volvo needed new head light, bumber, hood, passenger's side fender and suspension and lots of other stuff. Oldsmobile needed a new cover for tail light..
Just a few years ago when we had a big dog it got hit by Ford Scorpio (i don't know do they import them to U.S. and Canada).
Ford needed a new bumber, head light fender and hood. Dog instead needed to be found because she got scared and ran deep in forest and she got a little wound in her face but after few weeks she was ok again.
Hope you are a bit happier now...

see like i said im lucky....20 feet to the right and my car would have looked a lot worse then that as it would have been wrapped around a pole.....im not mad about the damages because there almost arent any....wanted new rims anyways im just going to end up having to buy a new nose from a junkyard, and pay to fix the tree....so what a grand and i have my baby back doing just as good as ever....im too lucky i dont deserve this.

i think it's the other car & tree's fault... kill the other cars' tires & burn the tree, and then roast marshemellos in the flames... give some to your car too, might like it..

ya.. i hate the tree now.. i'd burn it, after hacking the shieot out of w/ my sledge/axe combo... and the other car, i'd flick off. espically the driver.

glad to see your alright tho. & the car in one peice... & not worse condition than it is.
