Someone tried to steal my ride...need to fix my steering column

Well as the text indicates, some piece of sh*t scumbags tried to ride off in my '88 GTA. Thankfully, that car has VATS, so it was there the next morning. They broke the linkage that goes from the ignition cylinder to the rod on the other side of the column that operates the ignition switch at the bottom of the column. My local Autozone had a replacement of the little linkage piece in their HELP section. Now I need to fix the rest of the column. I know the upper part (the steering wheel side of the pivot point on the tilt column) of the shroud comes off, but the bottom part was f'd up too. Can I replace that piece as well? Does it come off? I know I can get a whole new column ($$$), but I can also just go to the local boneyard and take out a column and disassemble it on the spot and get what I need (if it is possible)......

I've bought entire columns and also just dissassembled columns on site and bought smaller pieces. Depends on the boneyard, just ask first.
