Idea for windows.
Idea for windows.
Ok, i don't know if i'm the only one with this problem, but, whenever i close my drivers side door. the window likes to stay a bit open, like it's pushed out. I guess because it doesn't make a proper seal with the molding.
Now.. i'm guessing this is because, when we shut our doors, it goes against the molding, and kinda has to get in a track, right?
SO.. is there a way to modify the windows, so that when you open the door,, wlel lift up the handle, the window goes down a bit, and then open the door as normal, close the door, take hand off handle, and it goes back up.
I've seen this on some new cars, mainly the ford thunderbird, is it possible to do it on a 3rd gen? I know it is and all, but.. what i mean is, does anyone know how to or what parts you'd need?

ANYTHING can be done. Doesnt sounds really all that difficult to make, just time consuming to get it right. Maybe an extra limit switch inside the door and a few other components. By doing that, a modified weatherstrip could be made with some kind of integrated rail in it that would keep the window from being able to be pryed out so easily. Pretty good idea.

I have this problem to sometimes. Sometimes It'll close cleanly, other times The window will catch the seal thing a bit and not close right.

I think the main reason for that is so pressure created inside the car does not keep the door when being shut real hard, by letting the pressure escape through the door and then it goes back up to seal again. If you have a problem with the window hitting the seal you should try adjusting the window.

Adjust the window limiting stops on your inside door track. By adjusting it to different heights you may be able to stop the window from hitting the upper seal at a bad angle and still keep it sealed from the weather.
Also check the window guides on the upper horizontal portion of the door. Should be two 10mm or 7/16 bolts. Those may be pushed too hard against the window itself causing the misalignment.
