Hood/ Facia fit?

During the restoration and repair of my 1986 IROCZ I had to remove the front facia (bumper cover) to replace the long plactic thing that holds the headlights and upper portion of the facia in place. I also replaced the hood.

Now I cannot seem to get the gap between the front edge of the hood and the top of the facia reduced to the point where they should look correct. The gap is still way too big. I have seen pictures of many Camaros and some original sales brochures that all show this gap to be nearly "ZERO".

Do I need to remove the whole thing and start over again? I feel like I must have missed a step somewhere during my installation.

Has anybody had and solved this problem?

Thanx, andyZ28

hows the hood line up at the windshield? may be a hood alignment and not the front end.

It seems to be lined up pretty well at the base of the windshield. It appears to me that the center of the facia needs to come up about 3/4". I have tried forcing the facia into place where it fits better at the top. But then it deformes the facia hear the center.

did you replace the hood with a Harwood by any chance? Based on what I have seen, that may happen with the Harwoods. Does the hood need to go forward or down to line up properly?

The hood is a stock GM item. The hood can't go down or forward any more.

i would loosen the front again and put some up pressure on it when you tighten and try that, the middle is mostly supported by the head light bar and the metal brackets after that. i pulled up on my light bar when installing it and it lined up ok, i forget how many bolts on the bar 2 each end maybe.
